PUBLIC SAFETY

Firefighter Boarding Truck

Williamson County faces a wide range of public safety concerns, including crime, emergency preparedness, and traffic safety. As your legislator, I will work to solve these issues and make our communities safer.

Emergency Preparedness:

As climate change continues to impact our communities, climate disasters will become much more prevalent. Rural and suburban communities alike will continue to feel the increasing impact of our climate crisis. Suburban communities must prepare for the consequences of natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods, as well as human-made emergencies like mass shootings.

Traffic Safety:

As our communities continue to grow, so does congestion, traffic accidents, and deaths. We should work with community leaders to improve infrastructure, speed limits, create public awareness campaigns, promote public transportation, and take a data-driven approach to solving this issue.

Policing:

Like many suburban communities, we are seeing a significant increase in issues related to police-community relations. While I support Sheriff Gleason and our police officers, I also understand the need for increased oversight and transparency within our police departments. I will work with my colleagues and our leaders to increase mental health reforms, implement bias training, craft policies to reform our broken criminal justice system, increase transparency and accountability, hold our police force accountable when they break the law, and work to improve communication and trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
